She gave this to me when I was wishing I were pregnant for the second time. She told me it was a wish box, and that all I had to do was put my wishes inside the box, and my wish would come true. Granny has always been good at telling you just what you needed to hear....and sometimes things you didn't really want to hear!! After seeing the little box, I decided that I would call her. I don't call as often as I should. But I called her...and she sounded so excited and happy that I called. We chatted about things. She was eating a Klondike and enjoying it. We talked about the weather and the bad rain storm that came through. She sounded really good...which did my heart good since the past few times I've seen her, she wasn't feeling her best. We talked about Papaw....she said he is doing much better. After I hung up, I was just overwhelmed with emotion. I miss Granny a lot. It's hard living 7 hours away from her and Papaw (and my Grandma). I am blessed and thankful to still have my grandparents around. <IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px; There is a work day at church today. I told Bryan that my work day would consist of cleaning my house. That is church work, after all, since I live in the church parsonage, right? Besides, my parents will be here Tuesday, and one of my best friends in the world will be here Friday with her family. So, there is lots to be done.

I had three haircuts scheduled this morning...and had them all stacked and packed to do the job quickly so I could get to my housework. Haircut #1 arrived and finished as planned. Haircut #2 was a bit late and arrived the same time as Haircut #3. No big deal though - we're all friends...so we sat around and chatted (actually, I cut hair - they sat around and chatted). By the time haircutting was done, it was 11:00 AM. Those of you that know me well know that when 11:00 AM rolls around - life stops. It's lunchtime for me. You don't want to be around me too much past 11:00 without food in my system. It's not pretty. So, I ran to the store for some lunchmeat. Of course, Bryan asked me to pick up some pop and ice for the workday people. Did that, got home, ate myself some lunch.

By now, it's been a few hours since I've checked my e-mail. Wouldn't want to miss something important, ya know. So, I decided I would make some coffee to drink while I sat at the computer. Just a little "oomph" to give me energy to do some serious housework. We'll see....I'm just waiting for something else to happen to stall my plans.

So, Mom....Cheryl....if nothing else, I promise you clean sheets on the bed. But please don't write in the dust!!

***UPDATE: An hour and a half later: top level of house cleaned except for kitchen! Didn't like it at first. I think it can be more of an acquired taste. From there, I started indulging in the General Foods International Coffees in the little tins. I don't know what I liked more - the coffee....or their slogan giving me permission to "celebrate the moments of my life".

And as I sit here this morning typing this post, I'm enjoying my first cup of Pumpkin Spice. It is WONDERFUL...and I'm celebrating that it is finally feeling like autumn here in Maryland. For many years, I have been working three days a week at a law firm. Last year, I started working one day per week at another law firm. Then on my "day off", I was usually booked with hair appointments. So, I might as well have been working full time already. But now, it's official. I'm working full time for another law firm that is closer to my home...which is nice (not that the other was THAT far away, but being able to be home in two minutes is pretty sweet!). A good friend of mine took my part-time job...and I know she is going to do a GREAT job!!! It was so much easier making the decision to go full time knowing I had someone to take my place. I've been at the other firm almost four years, so I had mixed emotions about leaving. But I'm excited about my new job. You can check out who I work for at www.lamorelaw.com! There is another attorney that works there, but he doesn't have a web site. Anyhoo, keep me in your prayers. This will be a bit of an adjustment, but I'm thankful to God for working out all the details. Yesterday was there first day...and if it is any indication as to how the rest of the school year will go, we're in good shape!! They are at a new school this year, and we're praying that it will be a good change for both of them.

Tyler & Madison seemed to enjoy the day, although Tyler said it was long. Not quite sure about this...he said the classes went by fast, but the day seemed long! Madison is in 6th grade which is considered middle school at this particular school. She gets to change classes, gets a locker, etc. We did buy a combination lock for her to practice on before she headed to school. Now if she can remember her combination.....

Both kids came home and immediately did their homework. Bryan and I just sat in the living room in awe. I'm sure the new will wear off soon enough...but maybe not. Do you think anyone was thinking about the life of a pastor and his wife when writing this verse?!?!? It's just been one of those mornings. I am a schedule oriented person...I love having a checklist....I love my calendar. I'm not much for surprises or spur of the moment things. But that's the way it has been since I woke up this morning.

Dearest Hubby had a Membership Class this morning at church. Just before he leaves to go down, he asks if I could make some muffins or something for his group (this was after I told him that I wasn't going out for donuts for the class). I had actually thought about making something for their class last night, but a few events left me feeling deflated and not wanting to do anything but sulk. So, I got out the cookbook this morning and found a fairly easy coffee cake, and it allowed me to use my wonderful new cinnamon I bought at the Penzey Spice Store in Omaha. (If you have a Penzey Spice Store near you, you should check it out.) I got the cake in the oven and was heading up to take a shower. Then phone rings - which it usually does as soon as Bryan makes it to the church. He received a call from a guy from his home church in Indy. The caller said he was at BWI, and reminded Bryan that he said to call anytime he was in the area! Which is fine....but Bryan has the membership class...which means I will be doing the picking up. I haven't seen this guy since he was a child - and now he is in the Air Force and home on leave. Bryan has no other information as to how long he will be staying...maybe all night? Maybe a day or two? And, yes, the house is in shambles. So after my shower, I whick-whacked the bathroom (which reminds me, I need to get the rugs in the dryer). Bryan calls back to say he will only be staying this evening...then is heading to the airport late tonight.

Shower done - make up is on - hair is dry - on my way to deliver cake to the membership class. I then proceed to the airport. "Ummm...Bryan....what is this guy's name again??" He reminds me it is Brett. I get to the airport...I look hesitantly at the guy I think I'm picking up....he looks hesitantly at me. I roll down the window...."Brett??" Yes, it's him. WHEW! I make small chit-chat on the way home. He is stationed in Germany and actually on his way back there. Through further discussion, I find out that he is not flying out of here to Dulles as Bryan thought - but to DOVER, DE. So he needs to be in Dover by 7 PM. No big deal...except we have another function at the church requiring our attendance at 4:00 PM. We arrive at the church where I nonchalantly tell Bryan that Brett needs to be in DOVER by 7PM. "Dover? Oh...uhhh....ok....we'll find someone to give you a ride."

I snatched a piece of cake, and headed to the house. I'm ready to go back to bed!

Omaha....

This time last week I was in Omaha visiting my friend, Cheryl, and her three boys (four if you count hubby, Chris).
